Job Description

We are working with a well-established small accountancy practice based in Leicester, seeking an experienced and ambitious Accounts Manager to join their team with a clear succession plan in place. This is a rare and exciting opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their career toward business ownership. The successful candidate will work closely with the current owner to take over leadership responsibilities, manage client relationships, oversee technical delivery, and contribute to the growth and future success of the practice. Hours: 9am - 5pm (busy period starts in October, and the successful candidate must be prepared to do overtime which is paid). Responsibilities: * Preparation of year-end accounts for OMBs, limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships. * Completion and review of corporate and personal tax returns. * Managing VAT returns and ensuring compliance. * Assisting with PAYE and payroll queries. * Managing and mentoring junior staff members (entire team consists of 4 members). * Building and maintaining strong client relationships. * Overseeing workflow, job allocation, and ensuring deadlines are met. * Contributing to business development activities and succession planning. Qualifications and requirements: * Minimum of 6 years' experience in a UK accountancy practice. * Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation, tax (corporate & personal), VAT, and PAYE. * Proven people management and leadership experience. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills * Demonstrated ability in client relationship management and growth. * Entrepreneurial mindset with the ambition to run and eventually own a business. * Portfolio of clients ready to approach and bring to the practice. * ACCA/ACA qualified (or time-qualified)
