Are you an experienced school administrator with a passion for supporting inclusive education?
GSL Education are seeking a reliable and proactive Administrative Assistant to support a specialist SEN setting in Chesterfield. This is a fantastic opportunity to play an essential part in the daily running of a school that supports pupils with diverse needs including ASD, ADHD, ODD, and SEMH.
The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for supporting the school office with day-to-day operations. You will be the first point of contact for visitors and telephone queries, maintain accurate records, and assist with administrative tasks that support pupils’ educational journeys. The role involves collaboration with both staff and external professionals.
Responsibilities of an Administrative Assistant:
Provide efficient and professional front-of-house support to staff, pupils, and visitors
Manage phone, email, and in-person queries with discretion and care
Maintain accurate pupil data, attendance records, and documentation
Assist with preparing reports, letters, and official communication
Support the school team with safeguarding and confidentiality procedures
Coordinate diaries, school timetables, meetings, and room bookings
Ensure smooth operation of office supplies and ordering systems
Assist with pupil welfare tasks, including medication records and communication with parents
Administrative Assistant Requirements:
Previous administrative experience within a school environment is essential
Must be a driver with access to a vehicle and business insurance
Strong IT and organisational skills; knowledge of SIMS or school systems is preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage sensitive data and handle confidential issues with professionalism
Comfortable working in an SEN school setting and supporting pupils with challenging behaviours
Experience working around pupils with ASD, ADHD, ODD, and SEMH needs is desirable
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
