The Role
My client is seeking a proactive and organised Adoptions Engineer to support the successful completion and handover of residential developments. In this role, you will act as a key liaison between internal teams, external contractors, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure that adoption and finishing works are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards. This role will involve travel to sites across the North West and possibly Yorkshire, there is no set location.
Key Responsibilities
Liaise with internal departments on adoption, finishing works, and interface coordination.
Involved in inspections, remedial works and highways.
Work closely with technical teams, consultants, contractors, solicitors, and statutory bodies to secure timely Maintenance and Adoption Certificates.
Oversee the management of bond reductions and cancellations according to agreed timelines.
Develop strong working relationships with Local Authority and Statutory Engineers, managing their expectations and requirements for all sites.
Identify potential issues early and resolve them efficiently while adhering to company procedures.
Prepare inspection briefs and gather necessary site records to support accurate cost assessments and quotation requests.
Maintain detailed records of payments and ensure adoption forecasts are updated monthly based on actual site activity and financial changes.
Collaborate with finance to manage and monitor budgets and provide accurate cost-to-complete forecasts.
Organise pre-start meetings with remedial contractors and coordinate start dates in alignment with the construction programme.
Support construction teams in obtaining Maintenance and Adoption Certificates, ensuring key programme milestones are met.
Provide administrative support for certification processes and bond requests.
Attend relevant site inspections, internal meetings, and progress reviews.
Manage the workload and coordination of field-based Adoptions and Site Engineers.
Handle customer care enquiries professionally and in a timely manner.
Supply documentation and evidence in response to claims relating to completed works.
Finalise outstanding Section Agreements and Technical Approvals as needed.
Support the delivery and handover of private works to management companies.
Conduct annual reviews of subcontractor performance and associated orders.
Assist with the management of residual land portfolios and provide advice as necessary.
About You
Strong commercial awareness and ability to interpret design drawings accurately.
Skilled in managing adoption-related fees, costs, and budgets.
Capable of working to deadlines and within programme schedules.
Detail-oriented, particularly when reviewing historic matters or resolving customer issues.
Effective problem-solver with a timely and cost-efficient approach.
Demonstrated negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
Organised, communicative, and able to work collaboratively across teams.
