Assistant Production Manager - Agricultural Operations

A large-scale agricultural business is looking for a proactive and capable Assistant Production Manager to support its seasonal operations. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in hands-on production environments who is ready to take on a leadership role in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
About the Role:
The business operates a busy seasonal schedule, employing over 200 temporary staff during peak months. All produce is handled and packed on-site before being distributed across the UK. The Assistant Production Manager will work closely with the senior team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations across all stages of production.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the management and training of team leaders and seasonal staff.
Monitor and coordinate daily production activities.
Organise and deliver staff inductions and training sessions.
Oversee health and safety compliance and reporting.
Maintain accurate records of production activities.
Monitor product quality during key stages of handling.Working Hours:
This is a permanent role. Standard hours apply during the off-season (Monday to Friday, 39 hours/week). During peak periods, extended hours and weekend work will be required.
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience in a seasonal or agricultural production environment (training provided).
Strong organisational and planning skills.
Experience managing or supervising teams.
A proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Willingness to learn and grow within the role.
Additional language skills (e.g., Eastern European languages) are a plus but not essential.Requirements:
