Are you an Assistant QS or Commercial Assistant and looking for growth and personal development opportunities?
I am recruiting for an Assistant QS / Commercial Assistant to join a leading energy provider in the UK, covering projects in the South of England out of their Basildon office.
Our client is expecting the successful candidate to be hungry to learn and develop within the commercial team, offering huge opportunities for growth long term in a fantastic sector with ever growing investement.
Reporting into the Senior QS, this role will support the business unit by managing the contractual and financial elements of projects undertaken within the Networks (South) business. This includes large electrical and civil frameworks and major standalone projects with UKPN, across DNP&P Major Projects. In addition, the role will include all other activities to enable successful P&L, cash flow and working capital management.
Working with the support of the Commercial Team, some of the key deliverables in this role will include:
* Manage Costs
* Provide Cash Flow Forecasts
* Assist the Project Teams with measurement and valuations of works for applications, variations and final accounts with both clients and suppliers
* Identify & notification of Early Warnings and Compensation Events
* Assist with CVR creation and management
* Monthly project reviews
* Aid with the dispute and defects process with the Client
* Attend Client progress meetings
* Follow procedures for Client Work Approval
* Post Audit of works commercially
* Manage Invoicing and Debts
* Effective Communication with all levels of personnel
* Supply chain management
* Provide innovative ideas and continuous improvement
What we’re looking for:
* Previous experience in a commercial or similar role - Essential
* Good MS Excel skills including the use of look ups and pivot tables. - Essential
* A well-developed understanding of various forms of contract, in particular NEC3/4 - with the ability to apply these skills in a practical fashion to live projects - Desirable
* A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or other related discipline (can be substituted by a relevant HNC and suitable experience); - Desirable
