Behaviour Mentor - Secondary School (Maternity Cover)
Location: Barnet, North London
Start Date: May 2025
Hours: Full-time | Monday to Friday | 8:00am - 4:00pm
Contract: 6-Month Maternity Cover
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join the pastoral team at a vibrant all-girls secondary school in Barnet on a 6-month maternity cover (with potential for extension), starting in May 2025.
This is a full-time position, ideal for someone passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people.
Key Responsibilities:
Support students across KS3 and KS4 with behavioural, emotional, and social challenges.
Deliver 1:1 mentoring sessions and small group interventions.
Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to implement effective behaviour strategies.
Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a safe, respectful school environment.
Help manage incidents calmly and constructively, with a focus on de-escalation and restoration.
What We're Looking For:
Experience working with secondary-aged students, especially those with behavioural or SEMH needs.
A calm, consistent, and empathetic approach.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to remain patient and solution-focused under pressure.
Relevant training or qualifications in youth work, behaviour management, or similar (desirable but not essential).
