Job Description
Are you passionate about supporting students with special educational needs? Do you hold a Level 2 British Sign Language (BSL) qualification and want to make a real difference in a young person's education? We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced BSL Teaching Assistant to join a highly respected SEN secondary school in Luton on a permanent, full-time basis.
You will be working 1:1 with a Key Stage 4 student who is deaf or hearing impaired, supporting them to access the curriculum and thrive in their learning environment. Your Responsibilities:
Provide tailored 1:1 support using British Sign Language to aid communication and understanding
Work closely with teaching staff and the SEN team to implement individual learning plans
Support the student's emotional, social, and educational development
Promote inclusion and independence in the classroom
Contribute to progress reviews and collaborate with external professionals as needed
Requirements:
BSL Level 2 qualification (minimum - essential)
Experience working with students with SEN, particularly hearing impairments
Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills
A genuine passion for working with young people with additional needs
A current DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one
