Job Description
Are you a skilled building surveyor with expertise in identifying and resolving damp and mould issues? Local Authority is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Building Surveyor (Damp & Mould) to join our team and address these critical challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct detailed inspections of residential properties to identify the causes of damp, mould, and condensation issues.
Provide accurate assessments and comprehensive reports, including specifications for remedial works.
Manage repair and maintenance projects to resolve damp and mould problems, ensuring they are completed to a high standard and within budget.
Work closely with tenants, contractors, and internal teams to deliver effective solutions and maintain clear communication.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, housing standards, and council policies.
Support the council's strategy to tackle damp and mould, contributing to initiatives that promote healthier and safer living environments.
About You:
Qualified Professional: Degree or equivalent qualification in building surveying or a related field, and membership (or working towards) of a professional body (e.g., RICS or CIOB).
Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of building construction, damp and mould issues, and their causes and remedies.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose issues accurately and implement effective solutions.
Project Management: Experience managing repair and maintenance projects, including budgeting and contractor oversight.
Communication Skills: Excellent ability to engage with residents and stakeholders in a sensitive and supportive manner.
Experience working in social housing or a local authority environment is highly desirableBefore You Apply
