Location: Gravesend, North-West Kent
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £23.00 - £24 per hour + bonuses
EthTech Talent Ltd (PSV Engineering) is proud to be recruiting on behalf of our fantastic client, a respected operator in the public transport industry, for a skilled PSV Mechanic to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanic who enjoys a hands-on, workshop-based role with a variety of vehicles, including double-decker buses, executive coaches, and minibuses.
Job Overview
As a PSV Mechanic, you’ll be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of a fleet of passenger-carrying vehicles. You'll play a key role in ensuring vehicles are safe, roadworthy, and operating efficiently, supporting both day-to-day transport operations and long-term fleet reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled maintenance and safety inspections
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults
- Replace or repair faulty components (engine parts, braking systems, transmissions, etc.)
- Carry out MOT preps and post-inspection repairs
- Use diagnostic equipment and tools to troubleshoot issues
- Fabricate or adjust parts when necessary
- Keep accurate maintenance records and ensure compliance with DVSA standards
- Work collaboratively with the workshop team and liaise with operations when needed
- Provide excellent service and communicate effectively with staff and drivers
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience as a Bus or Coach Mechanic (PSV) – essential
- Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent – required
- Proficient with diagnostics, repair tools, and workshop equipment
- Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads efficiently
- Welding and fabrication experience – highly desirable
- A PCV Licence is a bonus, but training can be provided for the right candidate
