Children in Care - Qualified Social Worker Medway Council Location: Broadside Salary: Up to £44,958 per annum + £2,000 annual retention payment after 1 year of service Working Style: Hybrid (minimum 2 days per week office-based) Access to a car is essential Are you a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker looking to make a difference in the lives of children and young people? Join Medway Council's Children in Care Team and play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and development of children in care. The Role As a Social Worker in the Children in Care Team, you will: Manage a diverse caseload with reflective supervision, providing focused and analytical assessments. Develop SMART care plans and reviews with clear objectives and measurable outcomes to support children in achieving positive futures. Work directly with children and young people to understand their lived experiences, wishes, and feelings. Use the Signs of Safety practice model to deliver strength-based and relationship-focused interventions. Prepare and present high-quality reports for various professional settings, including Looked After Children Reviews, Legal Planning Meetings, and Court Proceedings. Undertake life-story work with children to help them understand their journey and identity. Collaborate with multi-agency partners to coordinate services and support for children and their families. What We're Looking For Qualifications: A qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England. Successful completion of the ASYE year is desirable but not essential. Experience: Demonstrable experience in child protection, court work, permanence planning, and direct work with children and families. Skills: Strong communication, assessment, and analytical skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and produce high-quality reports. Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and the application of theoretical frameworks in social work practice.
