Job Description

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Temporary Children’s Residential Support Workers to join our team. You will work across children's residential homes providing short-term support to vulnerable young people aged 8–18 with complex emotional and behavioural needs. You will play a vital role in promoting their safety, development, and well-being in a nurturing, homely environment.  You will receive £12.80 per hour (paid weekly) along with flexible shifts to suit your availability, ongoing training and development opportunities, a supportive team and the opportunity to gain valuable experience across various settings.  As a Children’s Residential Support Worker, your responsibilities will include: Providing direct care, supervision, and emotional support to children and young people in a residential setting. Supporting children with daily routines including meals, personal care, school attendance, activities, and bedtime routines. Building trusting, therapeutic relationships to help young people feel safe and valued. Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social development. Following individual care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies. Responding to challenging behaviour calmly and appropriately, following safeguarding procedures. Accurately recording incidents, observations, and updates in line with company and regulatory standards. Working collaboratively with other staff, professionals, and external agencies to support holistic care. Maintaining a clean, safe, and supportive home environment. Participating in regular supervision, team meetings, and training as required. We’re looking for a Children’s Residential Support Worker with: Experience working with children or young people, particularly in residential, social care, education or youth work settings. Understanding of safeguarding, trauma-informed care, and professional boundaries. Flexibility to work shifts including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins. A valid enhanced DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one. Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. Reliable, patient, empathetic, and committed to making a difference. Desirable: Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or working towards). Full UK driving licence and access to transport. Experience supporting children with emotional, behavioural, or mental health needs.
