Job Description

We are recruiting an experienced Cost Estimator to join a leading Metal finishing company whose services include shot blasting, metal spraying, paint spraying & powder coating. Based in Uttoxeter the Cost Estimator duties are to be responsible for identifying and analysing cost factors related to the processing of customer’s goods to aid the sales management in producing quotations or determining the price of a product. Using input such as production time, raw material needs, and equipment and labour expenses. * Consult with customers, members of the Sales Team and personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues. * To analyse, understand, and decipher drawings and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labour estimates. * Understand the costing process from start to finish * Learn and understand customer standards and specifications * Liaise with customers and client managers to collect information where necessary * Use relevant software to input cost sheet information to form the quotation * Understand and learn the areas of the cost sheet and how to populate * Listen and learn from team members how process flow on costing and quoting works * Develop an understanding of timings for each process through learning from current team members * Liaise with purchasing managing to make sure process for materials and products are updated on a regular basis * Understand how automated processes on shop floor work for costing purposes * Liaise with the Business Development Manager and Client Managers to ensure that quotations are produced on time and are correct. * Prepare documentation used by management for purposes such as planning, organising, and scheduling work. * Liaise with customers on technical questions when necessary * Learning how to book in and out customer goods, with purchase orders * Produce cost reviews on a regular basis to ensure continued profitability. * Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction. * Share knowledge with team members on the estimation process. * Liaise with customers via phone, and email, ensuring we provide best possible customer service. * Assisting in business improvement techniques to improve The ideal candidate will have previous cost estimating experience within a production environment and understanding of technical drawings. You must be able to produce a quotation from start to finish using the company’s sales process flow. The role requires good analytical skills, as well as good communication skills. You must be able to think critically, should have good time management skills and be detail oriented.
