Our client are a well established Mechanical Handling and lifting Equipment company who work heavily in Defence, Oil & Gas, Nuclear and Heavy Engineering sectors.
The main purpose of this role is to provide technical/engineering knowledge/ability and provide inspection and technical support in the installations, analysis, repair, and review of cranes, lifting equipment and mechanical handling systems in order to fulfil customer’s requirements and comply with associated codes, standards and regulations.
Main duties:
1. Undertake the certification of lifting equipment to meet current legal standards and provide accurate reporting.
2. Repair, new fit and refurbish lifting equipment.
3. Represent the Company at client locations in a professional, efficient, and effective manner which enhances the Company’s reputation.
4. Undertake work in a proficient and safe manner adhering to relevant HSEQ procedures, processes, and standards.
5. Act as a coach and mentor to less experienced team members.
6. Undertake supporting assessments for lifting and handling equipment in accordance with the relevant design codes and regulation.
7. Undertake regulatory and code compliance assessments of lifting and handling equipment designed by 3rd parties.
8. Undertake critical structure, lifting and handling equipment assessments by interpretation of relevant manufacturer’s guidance and legislative requirements
9. To undertake or assist with third party inspections, maintenance, installation and repair of equipment and systems in manufacture and construction.
10. To interpret and advise on design aspects related to LOLER, crane and mechanical handling systems
11. Provide accurate and timely written reports of work undertaken.
12. Carry out technical onsite audits as required.
13. Carry out new crane installations
14. Work as part of the Group Services department in the assessments, repair and refurbishment of mechanical handling equipment
15. Inclusion in the “On Call Rota”, at present one in three weeks but a flexible approach to covering colleague’s holidays is required.
This position included a company vehicle and would suit anyone within an hour commute of the Portsmouth area.
