Title: Design Manager - Civils
Location: Durham
Salary: up to circa £75,000 + car allowance + package
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Design Manager to join a leading UK civil engineerin contractor at the forefront of delivering complex, high profile infrastructure projects nationwide. With a reputation for innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence, this business is currently expanding its North East operations and is looking for a talented Design Manager to join their team.
The Design Manager will join and experience team and will be responsible for taking the reins on a major, multi-million-pound infrastructure project in Durham. They will be responsible for managing the design process through pre-construction and delivery phases, ensuring the seamless integration of technical, operational, and commercial requirements. They will work closely with a talented in-house team, design consultants, and key stakeholders to deliver design solutions that are practical, cost-effective, and aligned with programme demands.
Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate the design management process on a high-profile civil engineering project.
Manage the interface between temporary and permanent works designs.
Collaborate with internal teams, external consultants, and clients to ensure design deliverables meet project milestones.
Review and interrogate technical drawings, specifications, and calculations.
Drive value engineering initiatives and innovative solutions.
Manage design risk and change control processes effectively.
Ensure designs are compliant with current legislation, standards, and client requirements.
Candidate
Proven experience as a Design Manager within the civil engineering / infrastructure sector.
Strong understanding of temporary and permanent works coordination.
Demonstrable track record of managing design on large, complex projects.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Ability to lead and influence multidisciplinary teams.
Relevant qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (HND/Degree).Offer
Starting salary up to circa £75,000 per annum
Company car or annual car allowance of £6,000
