Document Controller
£40,000, Burgess Hill, Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5pm, Permanent, 20 days holiday + Bank Holidays (rising with service to 25 days) + Birthday off, Pension, Parking
The Role
We are delighted to be supporting our client, a specialist in the design, installation, and maintenance of premium fire and security systems, in their search for a Document Controller. This is a newly created role to support the growth of the business and the increasing demands of high-value client projects. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is a hands-on position that will suit someone proactive and organised, with the ability to take full ownership of the document control function. You will be responsible for implementing new systems, setting up effective controls, and helping to shape how documentation is managed across the business.
Set up and manage physical and digital document control systems
Define and maintain naming conventions, version control, and document tracking
Coordinate and organise documentation including drawings, certificates, manuals, RFIs, and project records
Ensure timely flow and access to accurate project documentation
Liaise with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients to maintain document accuracy and compliance
Monitor adherence to ISO standards, CDM regulations, and client-specific requirements
Support preparation of project handover packs and quality audits
Maintain document security, access control, and confidentiality
Recommend and support implementation of new document control tools or platformsRequirements
Previous experience in document control within construction, fit-out, M&E, or project-led environments is highly desirable. You should be methodical, self-motivated, and confident in improving processes and introducing structure. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential, and experience with platforms such as Viewpoint, Asite, or Aconex is highly desirable. This role could suit someone who has worked as a Project Administrator, Technical Clerk, or Construction Document Coordinator.
