Job Description
A welcoming secondary school in Ferndown is seeking a creative DT ECT to join its Design and Technology department from September 2025.
This role offers a brilliant opportunity for a newly qualified teacher to contribute to a practical, student-led curriculum in a school where innovation and design thinking are highly valued.
The DT department is fully equipped with modern machinery, 3D printing, laser cutters, and CAD suites. The curriculum encourages problem-solving, sustainability, and design for real-world contexts.
As a DT ECT, you’ll:

Teach Design Technology across KS3 and KS4
*
Plan projects that integrate practical skills and theoretical understanding
*
Contribute to whole-school STEM days and enrichment clubs
*
Work within a collaborative and supportive team
ECT support includes:

A comprehensive induction and experienced DT mentor
*
Planning time and team resource-sharing
*
CPD in both technical skills and teaching methods
*
A focus on wellbeing, creativity, and professional growth
What we’re looking for:

QTS (or expected by July 2025)
*
A degree in DT or Product Design
*
Confidence with workshop tools and health & safety requirements
*
A passion for creative, hands-on learning
*
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
