Job Description:
A great opportunity has arisen for a Electrical Engineer to join a leading rental equipment team based in Burton Upon Trent. This hands-on, workshop-based role focuses on the condition, maintenance, testing, and readiness of a high-spec fleet of electrical loadbanks and power rental equipment.
You’ll work closely with both the Lead Rental Engineer and the Rental Workshop Supervisor to ensure operational availability, safety compliance, and quality standards across the fleet.
Key Responsibilities for a Electrical Engineer:
🔧 Electrical Maintenance & Testing
*
Carry out inspections and preventative maintenance of fleet equipment.
*
Plan and execute detailed maintenance schedules.
*
Maintain calibration logs and service intervals.
🛠 Repairs & Troubleshooting
*
Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs to minimise downtime.
*
Respond quickly to emergency breakdowns.
*
Provide remote or on-site technical support when needed.
📝 Reporting & Documentation
*
Maintain accurate maintenance records and service logs.
*
Prepare reports on repairs, upgrades, and equipment condition.
🤝 Teamwork & Collaboration
*
Work closely with mechanical/electrical engineers and other teams.
*
Share knowledge and promote best practices across the department.
📘 Training & Technical Support
*
Provide guidance and technical expertise to the workshop team.
*
Assist with development and delivery of training for engineers.
🔌 Inventory & Resource Management
*
Help monitor and manage stock of tools and electrical components.
*
Ensure adequate inventory for efficient maintenance operations.
🦺 Compliance & Safety
*
Adhere to all health and safety protocols and conduct risk assessments.
*
Support safety audits and implement corrective actions where needed.
📦 Additional Duties
*
Assist with warehouse operations and annual stock take when required.
*
Provide technical assistance to customers via phone or site visits.
*
Help onboard and train new employees.
Ideal Candidate:
*
Strong background in electrical maintenance or testing (loadbanks/power systems ideal).
*
Ability to read electrical drawings and work to safety regulations.
*
Hands-on experience in diagnostics, repair, and technical reporting.
*
Team player with great communication skills.
*
Workshop-based but flexible to assist with occasional site support.
