Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Project Engineer with specialist expertise in High Voltage (HV) systems to support the delivery of critical infrastructure within a data centre environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, design coordination, installation oversight, and commissioning of HV electrical systems, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and technical standards throughout the lifecycle of the project. Project: Data Centre (Hayes) Key Responsibilities: * Lead and coordinate all high-voltage electrical activities on-site for data centre construction and fit-out projects. * Review and manage HV electrical design deliverables, ensuring compliance with client specifications, national/international standards (e.g., IEC, BS7671), and project timelines. * Liaise with DNOs, ICPs, and HV vendors for system integration, energization planning, and permitting. * Support and supervise HV infrastructure installation, testing, and commissioning including transformers, HV switchgear, UPS systems, generators, and associated protection schemes. * Manage HV safety procedures including switching schedules, risk assessments, and permit-to-work systems in line with electrical safety rules. * Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting during commissioning and energization phases. * Ensure documentation is maintained to support project delivery and handover including O&M manuals, test certificates, and redline drawings. * Attend and lead client meetings, contractor coordination meetings, and site inspections as required. * Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, BMS, and IT infrastructure. * Ensure that quality assurance and health & safety standards are consistently upheld. Requirements: * Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. * Minimum of 5 years’ experience in electrical engineering, with at least 3 years in HV systems within data centres or similar mission-critical environments. * Proven experience managing HV installation and commissioning up to 33kV (or higher). * Strong knowledge of UK electrical standards, codes, and HV safety rules. * Experience working with DNOs and utility interface coordination. * Excellent communication, coordination, and documentation skills. * Strong understanding of electrical protection, SCADA integration, and emergency power systems. Desirable: * Chartered Engineer status or working toward it (IET or similar). * Authorised Person (AP) HV certification. * Experience in international data centre projects or hyperscale environments. * Familiarity with BIM, Revit, and electrical load flow simulation tools (e.g., ETAP, DIgSILENT).
