Job Description

Role Purpose: We are recruiting a Technician to join the team based in Docklands. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all technical matters related to Control Systems, Plant, and Equipment Maintenance on-site comply with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Legislative requirements. Role Summary: Critical Alarm Response: Act as the first responder to critical alarm notifications across campuses, liaising with and providing information to the Client Service Desk team. Team Supervision: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the maintenance team, ensuring the efficient delivery of hard services across data centres. Service Delivery: Ensure high-level service delivery and the timely completion of reactive tasks in line with customer SLAs. Collaboration: Work alongside the manager to support service delivery. Compliance: Adhere to all quality, health & safety, and environmental policies within the data centre.Primary Objectives: Technical Point of Contact: Serve as the primary technical liaison for clients and site staff, ensuring all planned and reactive maintenance is completed to client and legislative standards. Environmental Control: Monitor and maintain environmental controls within the building and specialist areas, ensuring compliance with required specifications and tolerances. Change Management: Apply change control protocols to documentation, software, and hardware, and develop methods for communicating changes to clients and internal teams. Alarm Management: Review and improve alarm management protocols. Emergency Operations: Collaborate with site and client management during emergency operations and procedures. Maintenance & Inspections: Perform equipment inspections, testing, planned maintenance, modifications, and fault-finding. Fault Diagnosis: Investigate, diagnose, and rectify faults on mechanical/electrical distribution systems, plant, and equipment. System Operation: Start up, operate, and shut down service plant, equipment, and systems when authorized. Compliance: Report to the Team Leader on operational, regulatory, and statutory compliance matters. Audits: Conduct technical and quality audits to ensure asset and operational compliance. Technical Support: Provide professional input during investigations, RCAs, and A3s. System Enhancements: Identify and recommend system improvements to enhance resilience and performance.Main Duties: Critical Environment Systems: Supervise the operation, maintenance, and repair of all critical environment systems, ensuring 100% uptime for critical power systems. Alarm Monitoring: Respond to BMS & EMS alarms for specific sites and take appropriate action. Infrastructure Oversight: Understand all works impacting the mechanical and electrical infrastructure or data hall operations. Procedures & Documentation: Develop and maintain site-specific procedures (EOPs, SOPs, MOPs), ensuring alignment with current client standards. Standby Support: Provide backup support for shift teams if required. Alarm Escalation: Make calculated judgments on alarm sequences and escalate according to the alarm management matrix. Vendor Coordination: Communicate effectively with vendors during callouts, ensuring clear updates until completion of works. System Updates: Update the Si Local Ticket System, follow up on BMS defects, and track issues through daily shift reports and CMMS open work orders. Remote Adjustments: Remotely reset units and adjust temperatures as requested. Energy Efficiency: Analyse PUE data, support energy efficiency initiatives, and ensure customer PUE targets are maintained. Battery & UPS Reporting: Produce weekly battery monitoring reports and real-time UPS discharge reports during EMEA UPS maintenance servicing. Management Reporting: Assist in preparing monthly management reports for the customer. System Monitoring: Monitor Mimic, BMS, and alarm systems. Permit to Work: Control the permit to work system, ensuring all live permits are clearly visible and compliant with site policies. Incident Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks by reviewing RAMS and access permits. Switching Schedules: Oversee and review switching schedules for planned and reactive maintenance, including external contractor activities. Logbook Maintenance: Maintain logbooks in accordance with System Control protocols. Team Collaboration: Work with the Technical Manager to align with shift teams and attend team briefings. BMS Calibration: Maintain optimal operational levels of all BMS controls and equipment, including sensor calibration. Training & Development: Support technician and apprentice training on BMS-related issues, including mock drills and scenario training.Core Competencies: Qualifications: Formal electrical apprenticeship. Experience: Strong background in building services. cGxP Expertise: Experience and training in cGxP environments
