You:
As an Electrician, you’ll be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and testing of industrial electrical systems across a wide range of project environments.
You’ll work closely with the Site Supervisor and Operations Director to ensure high standards of workmanship, safety, and compliance with industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Fabrication
* Assemble and install containment systems including conduit, trunking, tray, and ladder rack (plastic and steel).
* Gland, terminate, and install power and control cabling (e.g., SWA, singles) to BS 7671 standards.
* Install electrical equipment following manufacturer instructions and statutory codes.
Testing & Fault-Finding
* Perform electrical testing and continuity checks to ensure system safety and functionality.
* Diagnose faults using test equipment and hand tools, identifying and correcting system breakdowns.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety
* Comply with MTECH’s Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards on all tasks.
* Work safely at height using appropriate tools and safety measures.
* Identify and report hazards, defects, and any need for adjustment or repair.
* Advise management on equipment condition and associated risks.
Planning & Execution
* Interpret job specifications and lay out electrical wiring and equipment accordingly.
* Use hand tools, power tools, and industrial machinery safely and competently.
* Deliver high-quality, compliant installations in line with project expectations.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
* Fully qualified electrician (NVQ/City & Guilds or equivalent)
* Valid ECS Grading Card (in date, with BS 7671 and H&S certification)
* Strong understanding of electrical standards, regulations, and tools
* Knowledge of Health & Safety protocols within an industrial setting
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
* Full UK driving licence
* Clear colour vision
Desirable:
* First Aid (1 or 3 day)
* IOSH Working Safely
* Confined Space, DOMS, and EUSR Hygiene certifications
* PASMA, MEWP, Scissor Lift, Cherry Picker
* Forklift, Telehandler, Banksman
* Manual Handling, Abrasive Wheels, Asbestos Awareness
* Compex qualification
* Slinging, signalling, and crane operation
