Connected Search Group is proud to be the exclusive recruitment partner to RLX Construction and leading the search for an Estimating Manager. This position will be pivotal in the businesses continued growth, provide support across all key stakeholders, and will report in to the Co-owners and Directors.
RLX are a specialist within commercial construction industry, with a proven track record of delivering high quality results to their clients. They have seen significant growth since its inception in 2020, which has been driven by the Directors ambitions and their professional team. With a combined 150+ years of experience, the business has built a hugely respected reputation within multiple sectors. They have successfully delivered a number of projects within councils, education, the public sector and hospital trusts.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates and delivering detailed bids giving them the best chance of tender success. The vision of the business is to continue its growth whilst maintaining its core values.
Key Responsibilities:
* Search tender portals on a daily/weekly basis and report back any opportunities to our Directors.
* Actively engage with contacts who issue job tenders through portals.
* Conduct tender site visits to view the project, engage with designers and supply chain partners as necessary, and take detailed site records/notes highlighting any specific risks.
* Perform estimating duties from tender issue by uploading the tender information to our internal software and sending the relevant enquiries out to subcontractors/suppliers. Keep a log of subcontractor returns and chase quotations before our submission dates.
* Manage the Pre-Construction process from tender issue through to handover to the operational team (Project Hand Over Meeting).
* Complete detailed quality documents for our bid writing process, bringing knowledge and experience to develop our bid-winning strategy. Excellent presentation skills are expected to deliver clear and concise bids.
* Fully engage with our clients to ensure they gain confidence in the team’s ability to deliver the projects at both initial tender stage and throughout the Pre-Construction period. Maintain focus on the team objectives, manage the consultants, and manage client relationships.
* Work collaboratively with the RLX team to identify risks and associated mitigation measures to ensure the projects are de-risked during the Pre-Construction period.
* Manage the workload of our bids to ensure we have operational capacity. Each tender will be discussed with our Directors on a tender-by-tender basis.
* Collaborate with all external and internal stakeholders, demonstrating the ability to plan, coordinate, and manage all Pre-Construction duties while demonstrating a sound construction knowledge.
* Proactively follow up on tenders to identify areas for improvement in future bids.
Essentials:
* Proven experience within the construction industry.
* Experience in leading estimation projects on values from £10k to £5m.
* Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and tender documentation.
* Proficiency in Estimation Software and Excel. (We use Eque2 Evaluate but it’s not essential they have used this and we can train)
* Excellent problem-solving, analytical and mathematical abilities and attention to detail.
* Effective communication and negotiation skills.
* Flexibility to work varying hours as required by project demands.
Compensation:
* Salay £40k to £60k DOE
