The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Estimator to join the dynamic team in Glasgow. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of steel fabrication and fenestration systems to play a crucial role in securing new projects and contributing to the continued growth of our company.
Key Responsibilities:
* Accurately interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and client requirements to prepare comprehensive and competitive estimates for steel doors, fire screens, curtain walling, and steel windows.
* Utilize Schuekal estimating software proficiently to generate accurate material take-offs, labour costs, and overall project pricing.
* Develop a thorough understanding of the Schueco, Jansen, Forster, and RP Technik systems and their associated fabrication and installation processes.
* Liaise with suppliers to obtain competitive quotations for materials and components.
* Analyse project risks and opportunities and incorporate appropriate contingencies into estimates.
* Prepare clear and concise quotation documents, including detailed breakdowns of costs and scope of work, using Microsoft Word.
* Maintain accurate and organised records of all estimates, quotations, and related documentation.
* Collaborate effectively with sales, design, and production teams to ensure accurate project costing and feasibility.
* Assist in the development and improvement of estimating processes and procedures.
* Keep up-to-date with industry trends, material costs, and new product developments.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable experience in an estimating role within the steel door, fire screen, curtain walling, or steel window manufacturing industry.
* Proven proficiency in using Schuekal estimating software is essential.
* Strong working knowledge of Schueco, Jansen, Forster, and/or RP Technik systems is highly desirable.
* Excellent understanding of fabrication processes, material specifications, and installation methodologies related to steel fenestration products.
* Ability to accurately interpret technical drawings and specifications.
* Strong numeracy and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
* Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Word.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing workload effectively and meeting deadlines.
* A relevant technical qualification (e.g., HND, degree in engineering, construction management, or similar) is advantageous.
