Key Responsibilities:
As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects, ensuring that they are financially viable and align with project requirements. Your responsibilities will include:
* Reviewing project documentation and drawings to prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment.
* Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to gather quotes and ensure competitive pricing.
* Analyzing the scope of works and identifying potential risks and cost-saving opportunities.
* Preparing and submitting tender documents, ensuring they are accurate and submitted within deadlines.
* Collaborating with project managers and the procurement team to ensure that the estimates align with project timelines and budgets.
* Updating and revising estimates as project details evolve or scope changes.
* Assisting with the preparation of budgets and forecasts for ongoing projects.
* Ensuring that all estimates are consistent with industry standards and project specifications.
* Maintaining accurate records of estimates, quotes, and tenders for future reference.
* Supporting the team with any other duties as required during the tendering and procurement process.
Requirements:
To succeed as an Estimator, the ideal candidate will have the following:
* Some experience (1-2 years) working in estimating, construction, or a related field (earthworks, ground remediation, or similar preferred but not essential).
* A solid understanding of construction processes and costing methods.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and project specifications.
* Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in cost estimation.
* Good communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
* Proficient in using estimation software and Microsoft Excel.
* A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
* Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK.
