Job Description

Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Family Contact Worker to work with Tameside Council on a temporary basis. This is an office-based post based in Denton, and community work is required as part of the role duties. This is a full-time role working 36 hours per week, Monday–Friday, between the hours of 9am–6pm. The role sits within the Council’s Children’s Services team within the Early Years, Early Help and Neighbourhoods division. The incoming candidate will play a key role in facilitating and supervising family time sessions, safeguarding children, and working closely with families and partner agencies to promote positive outcomes. Main Duties * Supervise, plan and facilitate family time sessions with parents, carers, and other family members in line with court orders and referrals * Record all sessions clearly and accurately in accordance with internal policies and safeguarding protocols * Undertake assessments of family time sessions, and where necessary, prepare reports and attend court to present findings * Manage a caseload while maintaining strict confidentiality and adhering to all safeguarding procedures * Support young people in maintaining connections with significant family members, and contribute to care and rehabilitation plans * Provide transport to and from family time sessions as required * Work flexibly and creatively to meet service needs, including community-based work and multi-site responsibilities across the Tameside borough Essential Criteria * Relevant qualification i.e. NVQ Level 3 in Children & Families, or equivalent * Full UK driving licence and access to your own car (essential for transporting children and working across the borough) * Prior experience of working with children and their families within a safeguarding context * Strong understanding of child-centred practice and the importance of safe family contact * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially for report writing and liaising with professionals * Ability to manage a varied caseload, prioritising workload effectively If your skills match the above criteria, please apply with your updated CV
