Field Service Engineer – Industrial Automation | North West UK
Type: Full-time, Permanent
Travel: UK-wide, with some overnight stays required
£38,000 - £40,000 – Extensive Benefits Package, Bonus & Vehicle
At Perpetual Partnerships, we are proud to be working on behalf of one of the world’s most innovative providers of industrial assembly and tooling technologies. Our client is a global leader supporting sectors such as automotive, general industry, and advanced manufacturing—and they are seeking a Field Service Engineer to join their UK Service Team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically skilled and motivated engineer looking to work with industry-leading equipment and play a key role in the installation, commissioning, and support of complex systems. Experience with PLC systems and software integration is a key requirement for this role.
The Opportunity
You will:
Support the delivery of advanced tooling and joining solutions at customer sites
Work closely with project teams on system integration and commissioning
Configure and interface tools with customer PLC and control systems
Perform testing, calibration, and diagnostics of both mechanical and electrical systems
Deliver on-site support, maintenance, and fault-finding for production-critical equipment
Provide customer training and assist during pilot phases
Identify potential service upgrades and optimisation opportunities
This role offers a high level of autonomy, variety, and the chance to work across a wide range of technologies and industry sectors.
Who We’re Looking For
✔️ Technical Skills & Experience
HNC or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
Knowledge of power tools (pneumatic, battery, and DC), software systems, and network infrastructure
Solid experience with PLC systems and automated production lines
Previous experience in a manufacturing or customer-facing service environment
✔️ Personal Attributes
Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive mindset
Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Confident working independently on customer sites
Willingness to travel UK-wide and stay overnight as required
A flexible and professional approach to delivering service excellence
