Tutor Vacancy Leo Recruits are working with a reputable higher education providing institution in East London who are in search of a Full Time Tutor to join their growing team. The successful Tutor will be part of a growing provision with over 350 students across all levels from foundation to top-up courses, currently offering BSc in Business. The Tutor appointed will join a progressive team involved in the delivery of a range of the full-time BSc (Hons) in Business. About the Tutor Position East London Monday to Friday Full Time (40hrs pw) £28,000 - £35,000 DOE (Annual Salary) ASAP start Permanent Tutor Key Tasks: * Teach effectively on all levels of the BSc (Hons) Business programme which may include timetabled lessons or cover as and when needed. * Thoroughly prepare suitable teaching, learning and assessment materials for a range of courses/classes and make use of a variety and appropriate learning and teaching methods. * If acting as a module lead, prepare learning and assessment materials; develop and maintain the curriculum area’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and incorporate the use of digital technologies/ILT to enhance learning experiences. * Have available an up-to-date syllabus and scheme of work showing methods of delivery for each course/class taught and to lodge a copy of this information with the Academic Coordinator. * Complete promptly and accurately all class records including the register of attendance and tracking of learner progress against targets. * Maintain progress tracking sheets for your classes and coordinate with mentors if required. * Report any variations to the agreed class timetable to the Academic Coordinator and the Programme Lead and obtain permission for any long term or planned changes. * Be flexible to suit the business needs in terms of teaching during evenings and weekends. * Keep records as required of all learners assessed work and report progress or otherwise at appropriate meetings. * Follow all agreed Quality Assurance and Risk Management Systems operating in the College and contribute generally to the establishment and development of a quality provision/service. * Teach, relevant to subject specialism, up to 24 hours of teaching. Remission of teaching hours will be provided if undertaking module/cohort leadership. * Undertake the normal administrative duties required of lecturers including assistance with admissions (including interviews at welcome evenings for prospective learners), enrolment, induction and providing management information as required. * Participate in the meetings related to the module delivery and student progression and provide inputs/ideas to improve module delivery and student progression. * Be willing to peer observe other faculty members and share good practices * Interviewing and giving guidance to potential students. * Assisting students in their progression to the next levels of the course – both academic and pastoral support. * To contribute to the development and continual improvement of courses, co- ordinating effectively with both staff and students. * To assist in the marking of other tutor’s scripts in case of need. Key Responsibilities: * Promote a culture of innovation, excellence and equality. * Reflect the vision, mission and values of the College. * Contribute to the development of and ensure compliance with all College policies, procedures and agreements. * To positively promote and implement the College’s strategies on equality, diversity, safeguarding. * Undertake appropriate staff development activities that support personal development and the changing needs of the College and its environment. * Be aware of, and responsive to, the changing nature of the College and adopt a flexible and proactive approach to work. * Undertake such other duties as may reasonably be required commensurate with this grade, at the initial agreed place of work or at other locations in the College catchment area. * To complete all associated organisation/administrative work, preparation and marking. * To deal with immediate student disciplinary and welfare problems and bring any major problems to the notice of the appropriate authorities. * To keep and maintain specified student and class records; to plan, prepare, develop and evaluate courses and course materials, and where appropriate supervise course provision; * To assist with administration, enrolment, pre-enrolment counselling and identification of customer requirements; to participate and undertake Staff Appraisal and in-service training based onan assessment of individual service needs; to meet the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Institution’s Health & Safety Procedures
