Job Description
Opportunity to join the tech team of a Birmingham based menswear brand as a Garment Technologist.
Garment Technologist primary responsibilities:
* Independently able to check samples against tech pack, measure samples and confidently communicate comments back to the factory
* Offering advice on fabrics and trims for suitability of garments and design
* Advising on and approving care labels
* Responding to product related queries, both internally and from customers
* Ensuring production follows the critical path
* Overseeing fabric testing and fittings of samples
* Making sure internal systems are up to date
* Building & maintaing relationships with suppliers.
Garment Technologist required skills:
* Strong understanding of manufacturing, textiles, garment construction, seam construction, pattern cutting and garment cycle process
* Technical knowledge of fabrics/trims and threads, gained preferably within a fast paced commercial or supplier environment
* Ability to convey technical information to factories in a clear concise way
* Competent in use of MS Office programs such as Excel & Word
* Exceptional eye for technical detail to ensure quality standards are upheld
* The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience across woven & jersey, preferably in menswear
* Strong grasp of spoken & written English with excellent communication skills
* Ability to convey technical information clearly in layman's terms
* Ability to work independently
* Flexible approach to be able to adjust to changing needs of the business
* Highly organised with good prioritisation skills
* Ability to work to tight deadlines
* Keen interest in Fashio n / Men's Fashion & Textiles
