Job Description

A forward-thinking engineering consultancy is currently recruiting for a Geo-Environmental Engineer to join their ground and environmental team in Northamptonshire. This full-time, permanent position involves working on diverse ground investigation and environmental assessment projects across the UK, with a strong mix of both fieldwork and office-based responsibilities. The successful candidate will have the chance to grow their technical skills within a collaborative team that supports projects in residential, industrial, and infrastructure development sectors. Position Overview Take an active role in planning and executing ground investigation works, including sampling and onsite data collection Log and assess geological materials in accordance with current best practices Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors during field operations Assist in compiling technical reports including contamination assessments, interpretive findings, and desk-based studies Travel to project sites (predominantly within a two-hour radius), with occasional overnight stays when required Support senior engineering staff on project documentation, safety procedures, and client communicationsCandidate Requirements Holds a relevant degree in Earth Sciences, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field Has at least 2 years of relevant industry experience in geotechnical or environmental fieldwork and reporting Familiar with soil and rock logging, environmental sampling, and lab scheduling Excellent written communication skills, especially in preparing technical documents Competent with standard office software; exposure to logging or GIS platforms is an advantage Must have a valid UK driving licence and be willing to travel as part of the role Adaptable, practical, and capable of working in outdoor environments throughout the yearSalary & Benefits Salary range: £30,000 - £36,000, depending on experience Field-based bonus payments for daily travel and overnight stays 25 days of paid annual leave in addition to bank holidays Pension scheme with employer contributions Opportunities for CPD, technical workshops, and structured career development Broad exposure to multidisciplinary projects and high-profile clientsThis is an excellent opportunity for a geo-environmental professional seeking a new challenge within a growing consultancy.
