Salary: MPS/UPS + TLR | Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Principal Education is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a vibrant and inclusive secondary school in the London Borough of Hackney, seeking a dynamic and dedicated Head of Physics to lead its thriving department from September 2025.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Physics teacher ready to step into leadership, or a current Head of Physics seeking a new and rewarding challenge within a forward-thinking, high-achieving school.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and develop the Physics department with vision, purpose, and high expectations
Deliver consistently outstanding lessons across Key Stages 3–5
Oversee curriculum planning, assessment, and teaching standards within the department
Track student progress and implement targeted interventions where necessary
Collaborate with colleagues to promote STEM enrichment and cross-curricular opportunities
Inspire a love of learning and scientific enquiry in all students
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
QTS and a degree in Physics or a related subject
A strong track record of successful teaching at GCSE and A-Level
Leadership experience or clear potential to lead a subject area
A passion for developing innovative teaching practices and raising achievement
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
A commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing
