Job Description
Net Zero People have an exciting new role for a Head of Planning with a leading consultancy specialising in Planning, Landscape Architecture, and Civil Engineering within the specialism of renewable energy.
In this role, you will be responsible for leading and developing the town planning team, ensuring high-quality project delivery, and driving business growth, across all aspects of the discipline. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) you also have a responsibility to drive the Operations pillar forward. The role should balance technical expertise, leadership, and business development to support the company’s objectives and values.
This is a varied role with key deliverables across 5 core areas including:
Operations:
*
Oversee the delivery of high-quality delivery of town planning projects, including policy analysis and advise, report production, internal and external communication
*
Implement best practices in project management, quality assurance, and technical delivery
*
Work with the SLT to deliver the organisations vision for 2025.
Clients:
*
Develop and maintain resilient and trusting relationships with key clients, stakeholders
*
Lead client engagements, ensuring excellent service delivery and satisfaction.
*
Prepare and contribute to proposals, tenders, and bids to secure new projects.
People:
*
Lead, mentor, and develop the team, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional growth – to include RTPI accreditation.
*
Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention and succession strategies to build a high-performing and engaged team.
*
Provide training and continuous professional development (CPD) Oversee .
Finance:
*
Manage the financial performance of the team, including budgeting, forecasting, invoicing and reporting.
*
Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, optimising resource allocation.
*
Monitor key financial metrics and profitability of the department
Growth
*
Develop and implement a strategic vision for the town planning team, aligning with company growth objectives and overall vision.
*
Expand the company’s town planning offering in key sectors such as renewables, infrastructure, and in other land use sectors.
*
Identify emerging trends, technologies, and opportunities in planning policy and the development industry at national and local level.
