Job Description
Our client is expanding their Private Client team and is seeking an experienced STEP Qualified Solicitor to head up and grow this exciting new department.
Based in the heart of St Albans, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established firm with a strong presence.
The Opportunity
This is a unique leadership role for a senior solicitor who wants to make a real impact. You’ll be instrumental in developing and shaping the firm’s Private Client department—from overseeing a growing caseload to building a high-performing team of professionals. You’ll have the autonomy to lead with vision while being supported by a dynamic and collaborative legal environment.
Role Overview
As Head of Private Client, you will:
* Lead and grow the Private Client team, providing mentorship and strategic direction.
* Handle a full range of private client matters, including:
* Wills
* Lasting Powers of Attorney
* Probate and Estate Administration
* Court of Protection
* Trusts
* Deliver outstanding client care, ensuring cases are managed efficiently and with compassion.
* Supervise junior solicitors, paralegals, and support staff.
* Build strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and referral partners.
* Play a key role in expanding the firm’s Private Client services.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a solicitor with:
* STEP qualification (or working towards it).
* At least 10 years’ PQE.
* Demonstrated experience in wills, probate, estate planning, and related matters.
* A proven ability to manage a varied caseload from start to finish.
* Leadership experience or a strong desire to lead and develop a team.
* Excellent interpersonal and client care skills.
