Forever Teaching is proud to be recruiting on behalf of an established and respected Alternative Provision based in Salford, supporting young people from across Greater Manchester. This is a pivotal opportunity for an empathetic, driven, and resilient Head of School to lead a unique setting that makes a difference where it matters most.
About the Provision
This Alternative Provision supports young people in both small group settings and 1:1 environments, tailored to suit individual needs. Referrals come for various reasons – including poor attendance, persistent disengagement, behavioural challenges, social anxieties, and a wide range of SEMH needs.
They take pride in delivering a creative, therapeutic and bespoke approach to education, focused on re-engaging learners, building emotional resilience, and ultimately helping them thrive both personally and academically.
The Role
As Head of School, you will be responsible for:
* Providing inspirational leadership and a clear strategic vision.
* Leading, managing and developing a dedicated team of teachers, mentors, and support staff.
* Upholding high expectations around safeguarding, behaviour, and quality of education.
* Shaping and implementing a curriculum that works for our learners – not against them.
* Building strong relationships with local authorities, referrers, parents, and external partners.
* Creating a positive, inclusive and aspirational culture throughout the school.
You’ll Need
* Proven senior leadership experience in a specialist or alternative setting (Deputy Head / Headteacher / Head of School).
* A deep understanding of SEMH, behaviour, and the barriers that prevent young people from engaging in mainstream education.
* An ability to lead with empathy, clarity, and high expectations.
* Strong operational and safeguarding knowledge.
* A relentless belief in second chances and a desire to lead change.
