Headteacher – SEN School
Location: Lancashire/Yorkshire
Start Date: 1st July 2025
Salary: £50,000 to £60,000 per annum, plus bonus package

We are currently seeking a passionate, experienced Headteacher for a new and innovative specialist SEN school opening in the Lancashire/Yorkshire area. This school provides a nurturing, trauma-informed environment tailored to children and young people aged 11–16 with a range of social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs and special educational needs (SEN).
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing organisation that has already established itself as a trusted provider of specialist care and education. As a key member of the leadership team, you will be instrumental in shaping the vision, ethos, and curriculum of the new school.

Key Responsibilities:

Formulate and implement the aims, objectives, and policies of the school to achieve outstanding outcomes.
*
Lead by example, embodying clear values and moral purpose with a focus on high-quality education for all pupils.
*
Provide direction, leadership, and line management to the Senior Leadership Team.
*
Ensure high standards in curriculum delivery, monitor pupils' progress and achievement, and drive continuous improvement.
*
Oversee safeguarding across the school, acting in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education.
*
Lead curriculum development and statutory compliance across the school.
*
Prepare for and lead on Ofsted inspections and compliance with independent school standards.
*
Manage the school's development plan, staff development programmes, and resource allocation.
*
Represent the school externally, building strong relationships with local authorities and commissioning bodies.
Candidate Profile:
*
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) – Essential.
*
NPQH/NPQSL – Desirable (but not essential).
*
Significant leadership experience within SEN or mainstream settings.
*
Minimum two years' experience working within a SEN environment or specialist provision.
*
Strong understanding of the challenges faced by young people with SEN and proven strategies to meet their needs.
*
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
*
Ability to inspire, lead, and motivate teams.
*
Passionate about inclusive education and committed to continuous professional development.
