Job Title: HGV Class 2 Driver
Location: Birmingham Wholesale Market
Reports To: Operations Manager
Salary: £32,000 per annum / £15.38 per hour
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week | Start times between 04.00-06.00 am | 5 days per week (Occasional Saturdays required)
Job Overview:
"We are seeking a reliable and professional HGV Class 2 Driver to join our operations at Birmingham Wholesale Market. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering fresh fruit and vegetables to customers across the southwest region, ensuring timely deliveries and full compliance with road safety and transport legislation."
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure timely and accurate delivery of fresh produce to customers. Normally between 5-10 deliveries per shift
Comply with the Highway Code and all legal regulations regarding driving hours and vehicle maintenance
Conduct pre-trip vehicle checks and report any defects
Maintain vehicle cleanliness and temperature control to ensure food safety standards
Load and unload goods (manual handling up to 25kg)
Accurately check and verify customer orders during loading and delivery
Always represent the company professionally and courteously
Follow all site-specific safety, health, and hygiene policies and procedures
Complete all required delivery and vehicle documentation
Wear the company-provided uniform and adhere to appearance standardsPerson Specification & Essential Qualifications:
Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) Driving License (up to 18T)
Current Driver CPC qualificationKey Skills & Attributes:
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
High attention to detail and a methodical approach
Strong organisational skills and time management
