This Full-Time Lead Practitioner of History role, commencing in September 2025, offers significant autonomy and responsibility to drive pedagogical excellence and curriculum innovation across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5.
As our Lead Practitioner of History, you will:
* Spearhead Pedagogical Research: Lead on identifying, researching, and implementing cutting-edge pedagogical approaches within History, positioning the department at the forefront of educational best practice in historical enquiry.
* Develop Strategic Curriculum Pathways: Design and refine rigorous and coherent History curricula that challenge and inspire all learners, ensuring seamless progression from KS3 to A-Level and preparing students for competitive university applications in History and related disciplines.
* Conduct Professional Development: Deliver bespoke professional development sessions, workshops, and coaching to History colleagues and wider school staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement in teaching and learning.
* Monitor & Evaluate Impact: Implement robust systems for monitoring the impact of teaching and learning strategies in History, using data and feedback to refine approaches and ensure sustained improvement.
* Represent & Promote History: Act as an ambassador for History within the school and beyond, promoting its value as a discipline and inspiring students to pursue the subject at higher education and beyond.
* Contribute to School-Wide Strategy: Work as part of a dynamic team of Lead Practitioners to inform and shape whole-school teaching and learning policies and initiatives.
We are seeking an outstanding History teacher with QTS, a proven track record of exceptional results at all key stages (including A-Level), and significant experience in curriculum development and staff training. You will be a strategic thinker, an influential communicator, and deeply committed to pedagogical innovation.
