Job Description

Job Title: Housing Income Officer Location: Northampton - Kettering/Corby Office presence: Based in office with ability to travel through NNC area. Rate: £24ph Umbrella / £18.82 PAYE Driving License required and access to own vehicle Job Role: Patch Monitoring: Regularly monitor and manage rent accounts within a designated geographic area or "patch" to identify tenants who are in arrears or at risk of falling behind. Maintain an active awareness of trends within the patch and take proactive steps to prevent rent debt escalation. Issuing Letters and Notices: Draft and send a range of written communications, including arrears letters, reminder notices, formal demand notices, and legal documents (e.g. Notices Seeking Possession or Notices to Quit). Contacting Tenants: Communicate effectively with tenants using multiple channels such as telephone calls, emails, and SMS to discuss rent arrears, confirm payment arrangements, or offer support. Ensure all communications are clear, professional, and accurately recorded. Home Visits: Conduct scheduled and unscheduled home visits to engage with tenants in person, particularly where contact by other means has failed or where sensitive discussions (e.g. vulnerability, financial hardship) are best handled face-to-face. Provide advice, explain consequences of non-payment, and agree on practical solutions. Office Interviews: Meet tenants in a confidential and supportive office setting to review their rent accounts, understand personal circumstances, and discuss tailored repayment plans. Support tenants to access benefits, budgeting tools, or internal and external support services. Serving Legal Notices: Serve legal notices in person or via appropriate delivery methods as part of the enforcement process for serious or persistent arrears cases. Ensure all legal protocols and evidential standards are met to support potential court action
