Job Description

Japanese Major Media is looking for Researcher. Researcher/Reporter Salary: 30-40K Location: City, hybrid JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Research • Conduct research on a wide range of current affairs topics • Report findings to correspondents clearly and concisely • Prepare brief and effective summaries of assigned topics Press Conferences / Interviews • Attend press conferences, take notes, and report findings to the editorial bureau • Schedule appointments and prepare in advance for interviews • Conduct short interviews, both in person and by phone • Gather information and comments from a broad range of sources on specified topics Deadlines • Work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom • Adapt to the demands of a 24-hour news cycle Other Ad-hoc Duties • Provide general administrative support to the newsroom as required Some overtime may be required. REQUIREMENTS Essential • Native-level English proficiency and the ability to quickly analyse, process, and summarise information across a variety of genres • A demonstrable interest in UK-related topics such as economics, business, or finance • Strong attention to accuracy and detail • Confidence in interacting with individuals at all levels • Ability to present ideas clearly and efficiently • A deep understanding of diversity and the interpersonal skills to engage effectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds Preferred • Knowledge of Japanese culture and/or language, along with an understanding of corporate culture in Japan and Asia • Experience working in the media or in a research-related role • Interest in European news, languages, and culture beyond the UK context
