We are currently looking for a Junior Manufacturing Engineer or Graduate Manufacturing Engineer to join our client at their innovative manufacturing facility in Redditch. Being responsible for the assistance of co-ordinating and implementing process improvements, driving quality, productivity and efficiency, and the introduction of standard work and quality procedures.
You will be part of an engineering team within Manufacturing Engineering department, acting as a Junior Manufacturing Engineer to be responsible for delivering robust processes and quality improvements along with resolving manufacturing related issues and driving continuous improvement.
Principal Duties to include
• Support Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Assist in the identification and implementation of process improvements aimed at enhancing safety, quality, delivery, cost, and operational growth.
• Collaborate in Project Planning and Execution: Contribute to the development and execution of project plans, working alongside more senior engineers and teams to meet project goals within predefined timelines and specifications.
• Assist in Resource Coordination: Help identify and liaise with relevant departments and teams, ensuring resources are effectively allocated to support project goals.
• Support Financial Analysis and Forecasting: Assist in managing project budgets and forecasts, tracking costs, and identifying potential budget variances for corrective actions.
• Support Value Stream Engineering and Production Activities: Assist in implementing corrective actions and conducting root cause analysis.
• Assist with Improvement/Kaizen Events: Support the planning and delivery of Improvement or Kaizen events, working with functional teams to achieve operational performance improvement targets.
• Learn and Apply Costing Knowledge: Understand basic costing principles, assisting in the preparation of budgets, tracking tooling and improvement expenditures.
• Report Progress to Management: Assist in preparing and submitting regular project status reports, providing clear updates on progress, challenges, and milestones achieved.
• Assist in EHS, Quality, Delivery, and Cost Management: Contribute to achieving best-in class standards for Environment, Health and Safety (EHS), quality, delivery, and cost management, working as part of the Operations team.
• Assist with NPI: Act as liaison between product development teams and manufacturing teams, to ensure smooth transitions from design to full-scale production.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
A relevant degree or time served apprenticeship in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar discipline. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail. A basic understanding of Lean principles, continuous improvement, and project management methodologies. Along with the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team. You must have strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with different teams.
You must also have a proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop new skills. Familiarity with standard manufacturing processes, tools, and techniques is desired and CAD/CAM experience would be beneficial.
