Laboratory Quality Lead

This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance in a laboratory setting that supports advanced defence-related product testing. You will be part of a collaborative and forward-thinking team delivering complex trials in an ISO 17025-accredited environment.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced quality professional to act as the UKAS Quality Manager, maintaining accreditation and driving continuous improvement across all test and calibration activities. The role is embedded within the local leadership team, providing both autonomy and strategic influence over testing operations.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the UKAS Quality Manager for mechanical and climatic test activities.
Ensure testing activities comply with ISO 17025 requirements.
Lead audits and manage local quality control matters.
Collaborate with the wider quality assurance and test engineering teams.
Maintain and improve the laboratory's UKAS accreditation status.
Oversee quality assurance for internal calibration and all test activities.
Ensure adherence to local and company-wide testing processes.
Qualifications & Experience
Experience in quality assurance or quality management roles.
Understanding of environmental testing and/or calibration practices.
Hands-on experience with non-conformance management processes.
Skilled in developing and reviewing technical procedures and documentation.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Desirable:
Prior experience working with UKAS.
Background in ISO 17025-accredited laboratory environments.
Knowledge of DEF STAN 00-035 or similar environmental engineering standards.
Job Title: Laboratory Quality Lead
Location: Stevenage (with additional location in Henlow)
Salary: Circa £55,000 (depending on experience)
Working: Hybrid – 3 days on-site per week
