Learning Mentor 📍 Barking | Secondary School 🕒 Full-Time | Term Time Only 📅 Start Date: September 2025 💼 Ideal for Those Passionate About Student Wellbeing, Behaviour Support & Inclusion Are you committed to helping young people overcome challenges and reach their full potential? Do you have the skills to support students with emotional, social, or behavioural needs in a school setting? We are looking for a compassionate, resilient, and motivated Learning Mentor to join our inclusive secondary school in Barking. You'll play a vital role in supporting students who are experiencing barriers to learning-whether academic, emotional or behavioural-helping them to stay engaged and succeed. The Role: As a Learning Mentor, you will provide 1:1 and small group mentoring, deliver personalised support plans, and work closely with pastoral staff, teaching teams, and families. Your support will help students re-engage with school life and improve their confidence, behaviour, and academic performance. Key Responsibilities: Provide targeted 1:1 and group mentoring to students who need additional support Help students develop confidence, resilience, and a positive mindset toward learning Monitor progress and support behaviour management strategies Liaise with teachers, parents/carers, and external agencies to provide holistic support Assist in reducing barriers to learning, including attendance and emotional wellbeing issues Contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive school environment What We're Looking For: Experience working with young people, ideally in education, youth work, or pastoral care Excellent communication and interpersonal skills A calm, empathetic, and positive approach to working with students Ability to build strong, professional relationships with students and staff A background in psychology, youth work, or social care is desirable but not essential What We Offer: A warm and supportive school community in the heart of Barking A strong and experienced pastoral support team Ongoing CPD and opportunities for professional growth A chance to have a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of young people Excellent transport links and local amenities If you're ready to make a real difference and support students to overcome barriers and thrive, apply today to become a Learning Mentor at our secondary school in Barking
