Learning Support Assistant (Secondary School) – Portsmouth
Position: Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
Start Date: As soon as possible
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £23,114 – £23,500 (FTE), actual salary dependent on hours worked and experience
GSL Education is proud to be working on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Portsmouth to recruit a full-time Learning Support Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people to thrive both academically and personally.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside teaching staff and the SEND department to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping to remove barriers to learning and ensuring all pupils, including those with additional needs, have access to a full and enriching educational experience.
The Role:
Provide tailored support to students in and out of the classroom
Work with individuals or small groups under the direction of the class teacher or SENCO
Foster positive relationships to help build students’ confidence and engagement
Contribute to the development and delivery of personalised learning plans
Promote inclusion and equal opportunities for all students
Ideal Candidate:
Has experience working with secondary-aged students or within an educational setting (desirable but not essential)
Is calm, patient, and committed to supporting student progress
Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills
Is flexible, resilient, and able to work effectively as part of a team
Holds a relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualification (or is willing to work towards one)
