Job Description

Locum Band 6 Inpatient CAMHS Practitioner (RMN / Social Worker / Occupational Therapist) Location: Skelmersdale, Lancashire, WN8 Contract: Locum – Full-time, Mon-Fri Hourly Rate: £26+ per hour Start Date: ASAP Duration: 3 – 6 months (with potential for extension) We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Band 6 CAMHS Practitioner to a our specialist Inpatient Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) on a locum basis. The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing high-quality, trauma-informed care to young people experiencing acute mental health difficulties. This role is open to Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMNs), Social Workers, and Occupational Therapists with relevant experience in inpatient or intensive CAMHS settings. Key Responsibilities Deliver evidence-based interventions and therapeutic support to young people admitted to the CAMHS inpatient unit Participate in daily ward rounds, care planning, and multi-disciplinary reviews Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and support the development of risk management plans Support recovery-focused discharge planning in collaboration with community teams and families Act as a named/key worker for allocated service users Contribute to maintaining a safe and structured environment through de-escalation and therapeutic engagement Maintain high standards of documentation in line with trust and professional guidelines Requirements Professional registration with NMC (RMN), SWE (Social Worker), or HCPC (Occupational Therapist) Minimum of 1 year’s experience working in a CAMHS inpatient or acute mental health setting Strong assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to manage complex presentations and work effectively under pressure Enhanced DBS (mandatory) PMVA or MAPA training (desirable)
