M&E Field Service Engineer (Electrically Biased)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (Work from home every Friday)
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 p.a. + company vehicle or car allowance + overtime

Due to continued growth, my client is currently recruiting for an Electrically Biased Field Service Engineer to join their organisation. This is a mobile role covering the UK and Ireland, with occasional travel to Europe.
Our client provides environmental and energy engineering solutions for clients mainly in the production, major processing, and manufacturing sectors. The ideal candidate will have an electrical bias, ideally with experience working with industrial systems, PLCs, and instrumentation. Training will be provided on the specific equipment used, and the company is committed to your ongoing development.
The Role
As part of the Service team, you will be responsible for the electrical and mechanical servicing and maintenance of a range of industrial equipment, including thermal oxidisers, industrial burners, and solvent monitoring systems. The focus of this role will be on fault finding and maintaining electrical control systems, such as actuators, switches, input/output systems, and PLC-based control panels. Full training will be provided over an initial 2-3 month period, with continued development beyond.
Responsibilities / Main Duties
Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and electrical fault finding on a range of process and emission control systems.
Diagnose and repair faults on systems involving actuators, sensors, switches, and I/O wiring.
Conduct PLC fault finding and support control panel troubleshooting.
Carry out site inspections and provide detailed service reports in line with company standards and KPIs.
Provide remote and on-site technical support to clients.
Liaise with the engineering and operations teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
Support the sales team by identifying and communicating technical details for replacement parts and remedial work scopes.
Travel throughout the UK and Ireland (typically 2 nights away per week), with occasional European travel.
Represent the company professionally and courteously at all times.
Experience / Skills Required
Proven electrical engineering experience in an industrial or field-based setting is essential.
Strong knowledge of electrical control systems, including actuators, sensors, switches, and PLCs (to fault finding level)
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and wiring schematics.
A flexible and proactive attitude to problem-solving and customer service.
UK driving licence
Excellent communication skills
