Job Description

Job Title: Male Teaching Assistant - Secondary SEN School Location: Greenwich, London Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:15am - 3:30pm Start Date: Immediate Effect Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only About the Role We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Male Teaching Assistant to join a well-established Secondary SEN Unit based in Greenwich. This full-time role offers a rewarding opportunity to support students with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly in a small, focused classroom setting of 6 to 12 pupils. As a key support figure in the classroom, you will work closely with the class teacher and wider team to provide tailored assistance during lessons, with a strong focus on English and Maths. Your role will involve promoting student engagement, building positive relationships, and helping to create a structured and nurturing environment. Key Responsibilities Support the learning and development of pupils aged 11-16 with diverse SEN needs, including ASD, ADHD, and moderate learning difficulties Assist the teacher during English and Maths lessons by delivering targeted interventions and supporting individual learners or small groups Contribute to planning and implementing differentiated activities that meet the students' learning goals Help manage classroom behaviour and promote positive interaction among pupils Provide personal care and emotional support where necessary, promoting student independence and well-being Maintain accurate records of progress and communicate effectively with the teaching team and school SENCO Candidate Requirements Experience working in a secondary school or SEN environment, particularly with small group or 1:1 support Strong subject knowledge and confidence supporting Key Stage 3 and 4 English and Maths A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with young people Ability to build trust and rapport with pupils who may face social, emotional, or behavioural challenges A valid DBS certificate (or willingness to apply for one) Right to work in the UK Desirable Experience with behaviour management strategies or specialist SEN interventions Team Teach or similar training (preferred but not essential) Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, TA Certificate, or a degree) What We Offer A supportive and experienced SEN team in a collaborative school setting Opportunities for ongoing training and career progression A rewarding role making a real difference in young people's lives If you are interested please can you contact Scott Arbuckle at Remedy Education
