Our client is a leading Engineering and Construction company, delivering design-and-build projects with clients across the UK water sector. They pride themselves on client relationships which results in repeat business on long term frameworks.
We are looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to work on a high-profile new build £400m wastewater treatment plant. This project will be over a 5year period with the requirement to work out of their clients’ offices in Peterborough and later on-site in Cambridge when the project goes to construction. A flexible hybrid working arrangement is on offer.
Responsibilities
* Ensuring robust cost plans are live and accurate and are aligned to scope being delivered.
* Reporting to the deadlines agreed within the commercial calendar and in accordance with the respective work breakdown structure / cost breakdown structure.
* Subcontracts are properly prepared & reflect agreed scope. Subcontracts are properly managed in accordance with contract requirements including compliance with all responses to communications, payments, early warnings, compensation events, programme submissions etc., that all contract files are maintained & kept up to date.
* Actual costs are monitored and assessed against baseline, value of work done, solution cost progress, affordability challenges and final outturn calculations, reporting either weekly or otherwise as agreed with the Commercial Manager whilst observing the project’s governance.
* Provide reports on actual costs vs. estimate & identifying underlying reasons for any variance & resolutions, in particular highlight, challenge & resolve variance to latest plans.
* Ensure that the Contract is properly administered including timely issue of Early Warnings, Contractual Notices, Owner Controlled Insurance Policy (OCIP) etc., in particular ensure that the Project Manager, Commercial Manager is kept informed of all relevant commercial issues including contract correspondence and preparing responses where appropriate.
Experience required
* Preferably water industry experience but civils or construction background would be considered.
* Knowledge of NEC construction contracts is essential
