Hours of work: 38 Hours a Week

Role information:
This position is responsible for assisting with the installation, maintenance, and repair of all mechanical systems during a major rebuild of a walking beam sintering furnace within a facility. The Mechanical Craftsman will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure safe and efficient completion of all mechanical tasks within the project timeline and budget, adhering to strict safety regulations.
Qualifications/Experience Required
o Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial mechanical maintenance
o Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
o Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings and blueprints.
o Knowledge of welding and fabrication techniques.
o Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
o Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
o High School Diploma or equivalent. Technical or vocational training in a relevant mechanical field is preferred
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Assembly:
- Install and assemble new mechanical components (e.g., walking beams, drive mechanisms, pusher systems, refractory).
- Align and balance rotating equipment (e.g., fans, blowers).
- Install and assemble piping systems (e.g., cooling water).
- Assist in the installation and alignment of furnace heating elements.
Maintenance and Repair: -
- Diagnose and repair mechanical equipment failures.
- Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during commissioning.
Nuclear Safety:
- Adhere to all nuclear safety regulations and procedures.
- Perform all work in accordance with site-specific radiological controls.
- Participate in radiation safety training and maintain necessary certifications.
- Understand and implement ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable) principles in all work activities.
UK National Security Vetting Status -Must be able to obtain SC clearance
