JOB - Mechanical Design Engineer
LOCATION - Oxfordshire
TERM - Permanent
SALARY - £35,000 to £45,000 per annum (plus benefits)
Premier Engineering is working with a leading engineering company based in Oxfordshire that is looking to hire a Mechanical Design Engineer. This position is ideal for someone who has worked within a regulated industry, such as defence, aerospace, automotive, or medical.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
A degree or qualification in Mechanical Engineering (BEng, MEng, HND, HNC, etc.)
Experience working in a regulated environment such as aerospace, defence, automotive, or medical devices
Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as Solidedge, Solidworks
Strong understanding of design for manufacture (DFM), tolerances, and materials
Experience with technical documentation, change control, and version management
Good knowledge of relevant standards, certifications, or compliance procedures
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teamsThe Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
Designing mechanical components and assemblies in line with project requirements and industry regulations
Creating detailed 3D models and technical drawings for production
Collaborating with internal teams across R&D, manufacturing, and quality
Participating in design reviews and ensuring documentation is kept up to date
Supporting testing, validation, and prototyping activities
Ensuring compliance with industry and customer standards throughout the design process
Identifying opportunities to improve product performance, cost, and manufacturability
