Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading Energy from Waste site to recruit a Mechanical Engineer for its site in Worcestershire. The Mechanical Engineer role comes with a starting salary of up to £65,000 + benefits package. Responsibilities and duties of the Mechanical Engineer role Reporting to the Maintenance Manager you will: Lead the mechanical maintenance team, fulfilling line management duties and driving performance. Manage mechanical services and contractors, ensuring quality, effectiveness, and value. Plan and supervise maintenance, including preventive work and shutdowns. Respond to equipment failures, investigate root causes, and implement timely fixes. Manage maintenance budgets and optimise spare parts availability. Ensure statutory compliance, maintaining and testing safety devices, lifting equipment, and PSSR-regulated systems. Deliver emergency repair services to maintain plant availability. Support audits and compliance checks, both internal and external. Develop obsolescence plans for aging mechanical assets. Assist cross-functional teams, including Electrical, Controls, and Instrumentation support when needed. Promote a strong safety culture, following procedures and reporting all incidents and hazards. Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following: Relevant Mechanical Engineering qualification such as HNC/HND/Degree. Have previous experience in mechanical maintenance or engineering in a heavy process environment.
