Mechanical Engineer – Energy from Waste
Up to £65,000 (DOE) plus Benefits

MC Technical Recruitment are currently supporting a leading Energy from Waste facility in the Kidderminster area in their search for a Mechanical Engineer. This is a key leadership role overseeing the mechanical maintenance department and ensuring the ongoing reliability and performance of a large-scale EfW plant.
As Mechanical Engineer, you’ll be responsible for delivering both routine and outage-based maintenance, managing a team of technicians, and leading continuous improvement and upgrade projects across the plant.
As the Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Line management of the Mechanical Maintenance Team
Planning, resourcing and supervising scheduled shutdown maintenance
Diagnosing and resolving plant failures and mechanical defects
Managing contractors and ensuring statutory compliance (e.g. PSSR, lifting equipment)
Monitoring plant reliability and supporting with audits, budgets, and spares planning
Supporting the Maintenance Manager with internal and external stakeholder communication
Working on a days basis Monday to Friday, with an element of call out if required
Other duties as required
Requirements:
HNC (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in a relevant engineering environment
Strong experience with rotating equipment, pressure systems, and planned maintenance
Background in Energy from Waste, Power, or Process industries preferred
Proven experience managing teams and maintenance contractors
Excellent fault-finding, organisational, and problem-solving skills
