Job Description
Mechanical Fitters – Nationwide & European Projects
Location: Various UK Sites & Occasional European Travel
Pay: £16–£18/hr (Basic) | £24–£27/hr (OT & Weekends)
Allowance: £20–£28/night (after 13 weeks)
Hours: Core 8am–4pm | Regular 10hr Days | Weekends as Required
Bates & Bradshaw are working in partnership with a privately owned, multi-disciplined mechanical engineering company established in 2010. With a strong reputation and a growing order book, they are now looking to expand their experienced team of Mechanical Fitters.
The Role
As a Mechanical Fitter, you will work on a variety of large-scale industrial projects, often in challenging environments including high temperatures and confined spaces. You will be involved in:
* Installation, decommissioning, and relocation of industrial machinery
* Installation of ducting, steelwork, and pipework based on technical drawings
* Conveyor installation and machinery alignment
* Stripping and re-assembly of mechanical components
* Ensuring site readiness and safety – clearing obstructions and preparing tools/materials
* Welding duties (advantageous)
* Regular travel to sites across the UK and Europe
What We’re Looking For
* Time-served or experienced Mechanical Fitter
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
* Proficient in installing ducting, steelwork, pipework, and conveyors
* Welding experience (preferred)
* Full UK Driving Licence
* Willingness to travel and work away from home regularly (average 22 days/month)
Work Schedule & Pay
* Core Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm
* Typical Day: 10 hours (8 standard + 2 hours OT)
* Overtime: Time and a half after 8 hours & weekends
* Night Out Allowance: £20 per night, rising to £28 after 13 weeks
Working Patterns
* 12 Days Away: Travel back Friday afternoon, weekend off
* 5 Days Away: Travel back Friday afternoon
* Local Work: Home each night
